Trip Duration 11days Trekking Grade Moderate - Easy
Trekking Days 3 days Min. Group Size 4 Participants
Season Jan. to June; Sept. to Dec.

This trek begins from Phobjikha Valley, one of the few gacial valleys and the chosen winter home of the rare black-necked cranes that arrive from the Tibetan plateau in mid November and stay in the swampy center of the valley through March. The trek starts through a large valley and crosses two passes at 3400 meters /11,152 ft. before reaching the beautiful villages of Gogona and Khotokha. The trail passes through meadows and fields, then continues through forests of juniper, small bushes of daphne, and colorful magnolia and rhododendron. The last day of the trek is particularly beautiful during the months of April and May as the spring flowers and rhododendrons provide an explosion of color. The last strech of the trail goes through a semi-tropical forest, orchids, unknown creepers and continues past neatly maintained paddy-fields, orange trees and pretty farm houses of the Sha Valley.

Important Note

Most of our trips take place during the busy season and it is difficult to secure reservations on Druk Air and in Hotels in Paro, Thimphu, Wangdi Phodrang, Tongsa and Bumthang. The farther in advance that you book, the more likely it is that we can confirm the resrvation you choose.

The rule of thumb is: Book as far in advance as possible, but don't hesitate to contact us at the last minute if free time suddenly comes your way.
