April 8 Drive to Punakha We drive through beautiful terraced landscape, river valleys, traditional Bhutanese architecture, chortens (domed monument) and prayer flags before heading up to Dochula Pass (10,000'), the first of four passes of the trip. A place on the top of the world, at the pass, we see 108 newly built chortens (stupas) and in good weather, 200 miles of Himalayan summits are in view from this place.
