Oct. 15 Bangkok to Paro
On its way to Paro, Druk Air (the Kingdom of Bhutan's national carrier) flies over eight of the ten highest peaks of the world including Mt. Everst, Mt. Kulagangri and Mt. Chomolhari, Bhutan's most sacred mountain. The remarkable and steep descent into the Paro Valley is an awe-inspiring beginning to our adventure. Already one can feel the pace of life slow down.

In the afternoon, visit the Rinpung Dzong (the full name of the Paro Dzong), which means "the fortress of the heap of jewels." This complex houses the administrative and religious headquarters for the Paro district. A part of Bernardo Bertolucci's movie, "Little Buddha," was filmed inside this dzong.

After the Dzong, time for a short walk or to relax in our hotel rooms while our bodies acclimated to the 7,400’ elevation.
