This special informal club has been created to demonstrate the rewards of Friendship and to celebrate the remarkable attributes of Bhutan - the Land of the Friendly Dragon. Bhutan is a jewel in the Eastern Himalayas, located between India and Tibet. The country is known for its magnificient mountain scenery, gracious people, and honest government. Bhutan sets a worldwide standard for the protection of its environment and the culture. It has never been colonized or controlled by a foreign government, and much of its rich culture can be traced directly to the 8th century, when Guru Rinpoche - the second Buddha, introduced Buddhism to the Himalayan region. Bhutan seeks to promote "Gross National Happiness," in which inner spiritual development is as important as external material gains. MISSION STATEMENT The Friends of Bhutan Club (FBC) is committed to: Promotion of better understanding and friendship between Bhutanese people and friends of Bhutan from different parts of the world. Encouraging and facilitating the preservation and promotion of Bhutan's unique culture and rich environment. Generating goodwill and respect for Bhutan Encouraging and facilitating formation, growth and success of small businesses in Bhutan.
